JEWELRY CARE + REPAIRS
MATERIALS & JEWELRY CARE
Sterling silver and bronze develop a natural patina over time when exposed to oxygen, moisture, and oils from the skin. It is completely natural and harmless. Bronze/Brass metal can develop that greenish-blackish coloring on the skin, but again it is completely harmless and will come off with washing. The severity of the coloring completely depends on the person and affects people differently. People with drier skin or wearing it during drier/colder weather conditions lessens the chance of this happening. If it is bothersome, you can always apply a layer of clear nail polish on the areas that come in contact with your skin (i.e. on the inside of rings). Just know though that this is not a permanent solution and it would need to be reapplied.
To delay the patina process, store your jewelry in an air tight container when you are not wearing them. Also try to keep contact between your jewelry and soaps/lotions/chemicals/water to a minimum, and remove your jewelry before bathing, swimming, and washing your hands. You can always restore your jewelry's luster by wiping it with a soft, lint-free polishing cloth. You can also give your jewelry a deeper clean by gently scrubbing it with a soft bristle toothbrush and a mixture of warm water and mild dish washing detergent. Pat dry and wipe with a lint-free polishing cloth.
Every piece of Tytin Jewelry is handcrafted. We make every effort to ensure the colors and measurements are accurate and consistent, but due to the handmade nature of each item, there may be very slight variations.
