Who says booze and fire don’t go hand in hand?? Handle both in this fun (and safe) workshop where you will be introduced to the basics of jewelry making while sipping on your preferred beverage of choice. You will learn how to make a simple ring using the techniques of sawing, soldering, polishing, and different surface finishes. This is a great workshop to relieve that stressful day at work or just to get together with a few friends and have fun learning a new skill. We'll bring the bling, you bring the booze! FOUNDATION: EARRING FABRICATION

Students will be shown how to create earring studs, dangles, and creating your own ear wires. You’ll fabricate one or two pairs of earrings in the designs of your choice. Through this, you’ll learn fundamental jewelry making techniques such as sawing, soldering, polishing, and different surface finishes. This is a fun and informative class where students will get a basic understanding of metalsmithing & a taste of the fabrication possibilities. This workshop is limited to 5 students. Materials will be supplied. If you choose to work larger than the sample size, additional materials fee may apply. FOUNDATION: STERLING SILVER RING FABRICATION

Students will learn basic fabrication techniques to construct a silver ring with a design of your choice. You will be introduced to techniques such as sawing, soldering, polishing, and various surface finishes. If time allows, stacking rings will also be discussed. Walk away with a ring (or possibly 2!) that you can wear right away! This is a fun and informative class where students will get a basic understanding of metalsmithing & a taste of the fabrication possibilities. This workshop is limited to 5 students. FOUNDATION: PENDANT WITH BEZEL SETTING

In this workshop students will create a pierced pendant adorned with a round bezel set cabochon. You will have creative freedom to mix metals, create your own pierced design, create your own bail, and more! As you design and construct each piece, you will gain knowledge on techniques such as sawing, soldering, polishing, filing and bezel setting using the push over method. This workshop is limited to 5 students. Materials will be supplied. If you choose to work larger than the sample size, additional materials fee may apply. FOUNDATION: JEWELRY SOLDERING 101

Don’t fear the fire. Have you been nervous to solder, need more practice, or just want to be introduced to this technique? Spend a day getting more familiar with our best friend, the jeweler’s torch and soldering. We’ll go over in-depth the soldering process, tools, and techniques, discuss torches such as the acetylene-air torch and butane torch, and safety practices. Demonstrations will be presented followed by hands-on time at the soldering table. You will practice different types of soldering connections. This workshop is limited to 4 students. COLLABORATION WORKSHOP WITH EVERLASTING FIRE STUDIO:

GLASS & METALSMITHING FOR BEGINNERS

Introducing a collaborative class between Everlasting Fire Studio and Tytin Jewelry!
We have worked together to create a class for beginners, and even those with a little experience in one or both of these mediums. In just 2 days, 6 hours total, you’ll get to make 2 custom finished glass cabochon pendants.

Day 1 at EFS: We’ll introduce you to the world of borosilicate glass! You’ll learn to make cabochons by making a clear maria, and then decorating it with your choice of glass frit, stringers, and color dots. We’ll show you how to lens the front, and finish it off to a final glass cabochon. You’ll make a few in our class, and your work will anneal in a kiln overnight. No worries, we’ll bring the glass to Tina at Tytin Jewelry for you so it’ll be waiting for you there for the second day of class.

Day 2 at TJ: You’ll design a custom pendant for your glass cabochons using the tab and/or prong setting techniques. We’ll introduce you to fundamental jewelry making skills such as sawing, soldering, and finishing. You’ll have the option to use copper or brass metals or even both to create a mixed metals pendant. All materials and tools will be supplied.

EXPANSION: SILVER BEZEL SET RING

Expand on your basic jewelry making skills while creating an entire sterling silver bezel set ring from start to finish. You will learn how to measure a bezel, test your round cabochon stone for a perfect fit, and set your stone with the hammer & chisel method. Through this process, students will gain a more comprehensive understanding of jewelry making while advancing such skills as soldering, sawing, and finishing techniques. In the first half, we’ll go over your design and fabricate your ring and in the second half, we’ll go over how to set your stone and final polish your ring. This workshop is limited to 4 students. Materials will be supplied. If you choose to work larger than the sample size, additional materials fee may apply. If you have your own round or oval cabochon stone, feel free to bring it along. EXPANSION: BEZEL SETTING BEYOND ROUNDS

This workshop will focus on constructing bezels for flat-backed stones in shapes other than round. Oval, square, pear, triangle, and irregular shapes will be discussed. We’ll go over techniques on how to measure accurately, construct the bezel out of sheet metal, use both the bezel rocker & hammer/chisel methods, and solder crisp bezel corners. This is a great workshop to build upon your fabricating skills and expand your design possibilities. Some materials will be supplied. Feel free to bring your own stones or purchase from a selection of stones at the studio. This workshop is limited to 4 students. EXPANSION: FLUSH SETTING

Expand your setting repertoire by including flush setting. This setting style offers a clean look and a great way to include stones seamlessly into your design. You will learn how to flush set directly onto the outside and inside of a ring with 2 different stone sizes, one larger and one smaller. Aryn, a professional diamond setter and owner of Aryn Taylor Jewelry, will be teaching the workshop and sharing her years of expertise. Feel free to bring in your own stones & tools if you have them to ask questions about. If you use any sort of corrective eyewear or have an optivisor, please bring those as well. It’s required you take at least 1 or 2 workshops from our beginner series or have equivalent experience. Please be sure to read our class cancellation policy below before registering.

EXPANSION: WAX CARVING - RINGS

Take a more sculptural approach to jewelry making with wax carving. In this class, you will gain a complete understanding of the lost wax casting process by creating 1-2 rings in wax and finishing 1 silver casting. Students will learn basic wax carving techniques such as drafting/sizing out a ring in wax, removing/adding wax, working with different types of wax and tools, and finishing techniques for wax. One wax will be professionally cast in sterling silver which you will then learn how to clean and finish. We will also go over the casting process and talk about production methods used in jewelry making that you can use in your own practice. One silver casting is included in the course*. If you choose to work larger than sample size or would like additional casts in other metals, additional fees will apply. The class is limited to 5 students. A familiarity with basic hand tools (ex. jewelry saw, files) is ideal but no previous experience is required for this expansion workshop. Please be sure to read our class cancellation policy below before registering.

Materials Included: wax to carve & 1 sterling silver casting up to 8dwt. *Additional fee will be required if heavier than 8dwt.

INDUSTRY: 3D CAD DESIGN & MODELING - PRIVATE LESSONS (one-on-one)

Learn 3D modeling at your pace and convenience. In our one-on-one private lesson, I will introduce you to the 3D modeling program, Matrix where you will learn the basic tools to help you develop your designs into 3D models. A 2 hour minimum is required to allow enough time for you to learn the basics. Afterwards, the option to expand into more techniques is available and can be tailored to your requests. Additional techniques could include halo rings, pave, filigree, multiple-tone metals, etc. We'll also go over what’s needed in a CAD when preparing it for manufacturing. You will have the option to print and cast one of your designs. This does require additional costs that depend on your metal choice. We will work together to choose the best time/date for the private lesson. INDUSTRY: CAD SETTING TECHNIQUES

Learn the setting of the FUTURE! Ok, maybe not the future but an increasingly popular method. CAD fabricated settings are quite different from hand fabricated ones, and if you’re a busy jeweler with a big production line, this could be a handy skill. In this course, you'll learn hands-on how to set 3 basic setting styles (prong, bead/bright, and channel) all of which have been created in CAD. Melee stones & sterling silver ring blank will be supplied and if you have them, feel free to bring your own hand tools. CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel your class, please let us know one week prior to the classes's start date and you will be refunded the class cost minus a $10 processing fee. If you need to cancel within the one week prior of start date, you will be refunded 50% of the class cost. You may opt to receive studio credit in lieu of a refund as well that may be used towards another class or studio time. No refunds are given if the class is dropped after its start date. No refunds on studio time purchased. Please know, all funds are used towards class supplies and paying our teachers fairly. If you think you may end up missing a few classes, we're happy to help coordinate whatever we can to make those times up for you.

Classes may be cancelled when enrollment minimums are not reached. Cancellations begin approximately 1 week prior the first scheduled class date. In the event of a cancellation, students will be notified and will receive a full refund.
